Pandora FX is a company of special makeup effects artists run by Margaret Caragan. We’re located in and serve productions throughout the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, providing services for a broad spectrum of special makeup effects, practical effects, and makeup artistry. We can work individually as specialists and in teams to scale up to the staffing necessary to meet your project’s specific needs.
Life on set ranges from horror, medical conditions, body-painting, beauty, creatures, wig and hair work, to specialty costumes, concept art and everything it takes to bring characters to life. Work in the studio includes lifecasts, sculptures, molds and custom prosthetics.
Necessity is the mother of invention and Pandora FX came into existence to fill the significant need for skilled makeup effects in the local film industry. Our professional mission is to create quality makeups, professional service, and intelligent designs. Great makeups tell a story, whether it is for narrative or commercial work. We can open up a world of options or filter down into a simple plan. And we have a formula: a process of gauging your artistic, budgetary, and timeline needs and creating a plan that fits.
Our personal mission is to always evolve and grow as artists. That includes taking a hand in evolving the state of makeup effects locally by connecting, growing and contributing to the makeup and film community.
Our list of credits include Sundance world-premiered films, international productions, video game commercials, viral YouTube videos with over 73 million hits, top names and commercial clients, and when we’re not slaving over HD perfection, several team members have been featured as contestants on SyFy Channel’s Face Off, a lively competition of improvisational makeups. In October 2015 we collaborated with Lyft to churn out a load of zombies for ZOMBIE LYFT MODE! A one-of-a-kind zombie delivery service.
